2026 ALRA Officiating Clinics

Registration Now Open

General Registration Information

Thank you for your interest in becoming an ALRA Official for the 2026 season.  To be able to Officiate for the 2026 season, the prospective Official must have been born before/by December 31st, 2012.

All Officials over 18 years of age will be required to submit a background check before the season begins, additional information can be found on the Background Check Page

2026 Level Designations

With Lacrosse Canada adopting the World Lacrosse Rules for Box Lacrosse starting with the 2026 season, we will be adjusting to the World Lacrosse (WL) level system which is outlined below:

  • Domestic 1 (D1) - For first-time box lacrosse Officials (never Officiated box lacrosse before)
  • Domestic 1.5 (D1.5) - For Officials who were Entry Level and Level 1 in 2025
  • Domestic 2 (D2) - For Officials who were Level 2 in 2025
  • Domestic 3 (D3) - For Officials who were Level 3 in 2025
  • World Lacrosse 1 (WL1) - For Officials who were level 4 and above in 2025

For the 2026 lacrosse season, the ALRA has decided to maintain the same structure of our D1 / D1.5 clinics as we did in 2025.  The focus will shift away from an exam-centered approach to a student-centered approach that accommodates various and unique learning styles.  The exams will no longer be the primary objective; instead, they will be just a small part of the overall experience. Registrants will have numerous tools to assist them during the exam process, such as the exam being open book, being able to use the clinic material they were provided, collaborating with peers, and receiving guidance from the facilitator to enhance their understanding of the material (questions are welcome and expected).

This portion of the training will now take significantly less time, allowing us to move on to the exciting, and vital, on-floor sessions.  Here, the Officials will be introduced to the fun and interactive aspects of the game, which is designed to help build their confidence and hopefully ensure a successful season.  The on-floor session will involve multiple facilitators and will be designed to be completed alongside peers, creating an easy-to-understand learning environment that is rich in educational depth.

**ALRA D1 - D3 Clinic Breakdown**

  1. ** Schedule Your Dates**

- find a review/exam date and an on-floor session date that fit your schedule

  1. **Registration**

  1. **Study at Your Own Pace**

- study whenever you choose, with the option to contact a facilitator and fellow Officials if you have questions

  1. **Online Session Review/Exam (Zoom link to be sent on the Wednesday/Thursday before the session)

- the exams require a 60% grade for D1 and D1.5 (higher for D2 and D3) and will take approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour

- prepare for the exam with your facilitator and peers via Zoom

- take the exam online as a group

   - the exam is open book, with answers found in the rule book and clinic material

   - feel free to ask the facilitator for assistance at any time

   - you can collaborate with peers or form groups to take the exam

- at the end of the exam, review the answers with the facilitator to discuss questions the group got wrong

  1. **On-Floor Session** (link to register included in registration confirmation email)

- join your registered group for an on-floor session lasting approximately 4 hours

- learn collaboratively as a team

- engage in hands-on experiences that are fun and cutting edge

- make connections and develop confidence in your officiating

- establish a strong foundation for your officiating career

This new method of providing out D1/D1.5 clinics is designed to be enjoyable and stress-free while providing the registrants with the essential skills they need to succeed as an Official.

For our D2 and D3 Officials, we will be offering the same format, however an on-floor session will not be required. But if you would like to attend an on-floor session, please feel free to sign up.  Again, you will be registering for a review/written exam date, not a physical/virtual clinic.

For our senior Officials, for those who are invited to attend, we will be running the Uber Clinic in conjunction with the RMLL Coaches Clinic as we have in the past.  This clinic is for Officials over 18 years of age, with minimum four years Officiating experience that have shown a competency on floor at the U17A division.  This clinic is by invitation only.  If you meet the criteria above, have not yet been invited, and believe you should, please email VP Member Services to inquire as to your potential attendance.

Registration Closes on the Wednesday the week of the clinic at 11:59PM.

- Example: A test date on Saturday, March 4 will have its registration close on Wednesday, March 1 at 11:59PM.

- Example: A test date on Sunday, March 5 will have its registration close on Wednesday, March 1 at 11:59PM.

- Clinic registration may close ahead of the registration deadline based on number of registrants. If you are still considering registering this season you should do so sooner than later.

- Clinic registration closes so that our Executive team can prepare background checks, equipment orders, and our assigning platform.
